Uganda Nyabirongo Anaerobic Natural - Single Origin Speciality Coffee
Uganda Nyabirongo Anaerobic Natural
Winey • Dark Chocolate • Prunes • Creamy
From the slopes of Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains comes a coffee with loads of sweetness, depth and a little bit of funk.
Nyabirongo is produced by 44 smallholder farmers around Kyarumba, growing coffee between 1,800 and 2,200 metres above sea level. The ripe cherries are handpicked and delivered to the Kyarumba collection centre before being transported to Agri Evolve’s Central Coffee Mill in Nyabirongo.
At the mill, the cherries are floated and placed into sealed tanks for a 72-hour anaerobic fermentation. They are then slowly sun-dried on raised African beds before being hulled and graded.
The result is a rich, fruit-forward coffee with winey sweetness, ripe prune, dark chocolate and a creamy body.
We’ve roasted this one to work beautifully across both espresso and filter.
